Our Story

Who Are We?

Source Macchiato is an independent French game development studio specializing in Unity and Unreal Engine 5, with extensive experience in Wii U development.

Our Story

Founded in 2022 by Alyx Lihoreau as Portal Wii U Team, our original goal was to bring Portal and Portal 2 to the Wii U. With limited programming experience and minimal documentation, Alyx had to learn everything from scratch.

A few months later, Alexis L. discovered the project through a YouTube video and decided to contribute. Their teamwork flourished, and the Portal: Wii U Edition community quickly grew, along with their development skills.

Choosing a name was a challenge. We wanted something memorable that reflected our origins. Eventually, we settled on Source Macchiato"Source" as a nod to the Source Engine (Portal's engine) and "Macchiato", referencing "Café," the Wii U’s codename.

Later, Omar joined as the lead game designer, becoming a vital part of our team. Over time, we faced both support and criticism, but we kept moving forward. Perhaps one day, the small team known for remaking games on a dead console will grow into something far greater.

After winning the hearts of Wii U players, our next step is to create original, independent games and reach a broader audience with high-quality projects.
